Ian 听起来像渊。
姓氏杨也跟英语中的姓氏Young差不多。
所以，你的英文名可以为Ian Young.
不过，还是Ian Yang要好，在国际上姓氏一般要按民族语言的拼zd法。我们就采用汉语拼音。
大部分情况下，写版拼音就可以，但要处理，你的名字的英文拼法就是Yang Ziyuan.这样就可以，在很多外语教材中，我发现中国人可以不用外语名字。我们大陆不是港台，不需要去什么殖民化的外文名字。即使港台和新加坡，我知道很多名人权像李嘉诚、朱敬文也采用中文名，只是拼法与内地稍有不同。

专业角度说，姓不可随意改动（Zuo），你护照上的名字不能改动，因此，入学、填表，申请银行帐号、医疗保险等等重要的东西知，都必须用你护照上的名字（汉语拼音的）。平时上课，便于老师同学称呼你，你可以跟他们说：call me John (john我是随便做比喻的，可以用你最后决定的名字代替）
所谓道起个英文名，只能是给自己一个given name，如果以后你有机会申请移民、公民或美国（我不知道你要去的国家，只是打个比方）的护照，可以加上你自己给自己起的这个英文名，这样才能是回legal name.在此之前，这个英文名只能随便用用，不可以成为legal name.

中文的r 是英文的/ʒ/音，而这个音往往在词尾，而不是在词头
hong 英文读成/hɔŋ/, 也不是ong的音
所以只能采取就近音译，不可能找到发音一样的
